A Few Photos of the Intel Blue Box Design.

I mentioned my admiration of the Intel blue box design here. So go take a read on that prior to taking a look at the pictures below!

This is one of the more basic designs for the i5 processor back when it came out. Doesn't it just look slick and very neat?

This is the i7-4770k processor design by Intel. It still has the basic blue background, but the human figure or mascot is more visible, along with the nice yellow processor strip at the top. Very nice.

This is a picture I took just a second ago. There is unfortunately no processor in there, as I sold it a while ago. But take a look at the box design here. Still very blue, and that CPU strip at the top right corner just screams "technology" to you, doesn't it? I love it. By the way, this is my i7 processor box, if you couldn't see in the picture.

Intel's Blue Box Design

I am going to offer something completely different and kind of strange with this post: I decided to go on a little compliment spree on the competing product, Intel. No, I do not hate the company and no, I will never refuse to purchase on of their products (I actually bought an Intel processor for my friend's birthday a few weeks ago). This post is simply me admiring something so minor. Their product box.

Why I Like the Intel Blue Box

The blue box all of their CPUs come in look damn nice. You would see along with all of the pictures on this post how elegant it looks.

The blue boxes are designed with technology in mind. Regardless of whether or not you knew what Intel was or what they manufactured, I assure you that if you simply go as far as look at that box, with the Intel logo and the nice little technology robot mascot they have on there, you would quickly understand that they are a technology company, working with computer AI. That is the power of the box.

Sure, AMD has some nice, mysterious product boxes that come in awesome colors like black and red. Yet, it doesn't scream "technology" at me, which is ultimately what I love out of these packaging. Just take a look at some of the pictures on this entire blog post, or even just my blog. You'll understand.

Why I Chose AMD And How It Chose Me

Here it is, everyone! My big post that I feel like was just waiting to be written. If there were any post, just one post, you could read on my tech blog here on Blogspot, it should definitely be this one right here. Just continue to read, all the way to the bottom, and even watch the video once or twice, because this one is going to be my finest, most informative post on here.

What are we talking about? Well, how about why I chose AMD overall in the CPU market, and a little story about how it chose me.

Why AMD?

There are certain reasons I chose AMD over companies like Intel, but those are more private and much more minor factors into my decision making. However, there are a ton of major things I found about AMD that I simply preferred over tech giants like Intel.

For starters, everything seems much cheaper for the value you are getting. Obviously, nothing much in technology is cheap anymore, especially if you are going for something more advanced like a gaming machine, or even more advanced: building your own gaming rig. So that definitely is a factor when deciding what companies to purchase from.

Doing benchmarks, I found two almost identical -- keyword on the "almost", because you simply cannot find two identical CPUs from different companies -- processors between Intel and AMD. I will not mention the second one, though it should be noted to included at least one of the processors I benchmarked: the AMD FX-8320. As mentioned, I will not publish what the other Intel processor that compared to this was, simply because I do not want to ignite a flame between two sides.

Anyway, the FX-8320 cost a couple hundred, while the Intel CPU cost just around $40-$50 more -- right now, both have been on discounts that put them at significantly lower prices, but you will have to check that out for yourself.

The benchmarks revealed they can both run heavy games like The Witcher 2 or Crysis 3 at the same pace. Graphical capabilities were all there. Yet, how come I had to pay an extra $50 or so to get the same product? Intel might have a few more features, but AMD has pros in its own right.

The Story of How it Chose Me

The story of how the AMD processor chose me was quite funny actually. I was repairing one of my friends' computers back in the day and found she had a processor that was compatible with the one I had at home. The CPU was not the problem, so I decided to just rent her processor and replace it with mine. Obviously, I intended to give it back but I simply wanted to try AMD, since I had previously only used their products twice on someone else's PC.

I ended up not going back from my Intel processor. I had to pay my friend a premium for basically stealing her CPU, but it's alright. I got my money's worth, in my opinion, since I was introduced to a pretty great company in AMD.

That's my story.

Thank you very much for reading.

A Little Something About Fanboys

I am not too big a fan of fanboys. No, that is not a comment about your gender. You can be a fanboy regardless of if you are female or male. I am a female. My name is Shandi. But, here is why I am not a fanboy: because I appreciate every brand, and most products, regardless of who manufactured it.

Technology is a beautiful thing. Fanboys like to ruin the experience by simply choosing one side over the other, regardless of the features another brand has to offer. It really is quite disgusting. There are Android fanboys and Apple fanboys, you know the type. But the type of people I am mostly speaking about are computer fanboys. I do not understand it.

Sure, there are some people -- like me, specifically -- that prefer a certain CPU brand (AMD) over another (Intel). But there are too many people that will only buy from a certain company, like AMD or Intel, over the other. And I do not understand why.

Both clearly have their pros and their cons. You can make the argument that the cons of one of these CPU manufacturers far outweigh the other, depending on which side you prefer. However, it is unreasonable to say that only one of the hardware manufacturers have all the benefits while the other is "complete garbage" or a waste of money.

If you are reading this and see a user on a thread, please try to contain the fanboy-ism. It is not polite and it is actually quite ignorant, if I must say anything absolutely harsh.

My little rant is over. Thanks for reading! Stay tuned.

Introduction by Shandi Roma

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Shandi Roma, I previously did other blogs for things like my pre-built gaming desktop, just to show my audience around what I like to do as a hobby.

Obviously, I am a big tech freak. I love gaming, too, so why not combine both to create a hobby I am truly passionate about? Sure, the hardware can get expensive, but I'm all game because it's fun, interesting, and most of all, amazing to find you can build your very own, unique gaming machine.

I will talk more about this blog in my About Page, but this post was basically me introducing myself to the community and future potential readers. Please help yourself around the articles I provide, or even contact me if you want to write for the blog too!

Enjoy your stay,
